Youth-In-Transition Program

Youth In Transition program  provide comprehensive transition services which includes case management for disconnected youth who do not attend school or work focusing on: engaging them into job readiness activities; thus, preparing participants to succeed in employment, supporting youth through adult mentoring, guidance and counseling, and offering services intended to develop the potential of youth as citizens and leaders. The program utilizes public and private businesses within the community to provide support through volunteer training, job shadowing and employment of youth between 16 years to 21 years of age.  The YOUTH IN TRANSITION program places youth in job enrichment training sites. The program services youth who have dropped out of school, the unemployed or underemployed. Youth are accepted in the program through self referrals, from the local high-schools where the Drop-Out-Prevention Specialist may make referrals, faith based community, community agencies and organizations, private businesses, the legal/justice systems.  Youth will be expected to enroll in the training (volunteer / job shadowing) program for 6 months; however they may participate in the program with incentives for a total of one year.     Incentives will be given for participation. They include: training to employment with the local hospital if the participant meets performance standards and financial incentives and awards. These incentives include: $100.00 per month for each month of participation or a total of $600.00 after the completion of the program. If the participant gains employment at any time, they will continue to receive the monthly incentives , an employment incentive of $100.00 and all other incentives as outlined below. (pay stubs will be used as proof of employment. With continued employment, participant will receive $100.00 at 6 months 9 months and 12 months of employment.
